Gravatar.com

A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an 80×80 pixel avatar image that follows you from weblog to weblog appearing beside your name when you comment on gravatar enabled sites. Avatars help identify your posts on web forums, so why not on weblogs?

I couldn't wait to try this out. But the site seems broken somehow. I applied for an account several hours ago, but I have yet to receive the confirmation email.

The whole thing is run by one guy alone, who checks the Gravatars for profanity etc.. He’s in the USA, so he might well have been sleeping when you applied there.

how would i implement gravitar in typepad comments?  i did ask on the typepad users forum but no luck so far.  would i use php or perl?  i appologize in advance, but you know that already.  i should have an ask tim miniblog.  the only reservation i have is that it requires a valid email to work.  i suppose i could make a real alternative email address just for this, but… thinking about it.  i mean, since six apart bought lj shouldn’t we all have icons?  rambling.

Sorry, I really wouldn’t know how it works since I haven’t got an account confirmation email yet.
